Florence seen from the house

Charming apartment in a historic tower house

In the village of Ulivelli, in Località Candeli, in the Municipality of Bagno a Ripoli, you can stay in the “tower house” of what was once the Palagio Portinari di Candeli, one of the properties of the family of the powerful banker Folco Portinari de’ Medici, who here dominated the majestic and unique landscape that from Impruneta passing through the basin of Florence and up to Prato Magno, offers a 360 ° unicum of our territory.
Immediately above the Villa La Tana, which hosted Bianca Cappello and her lover Francesco I de’ Medici, the two fourteenth-century towers are clearly visible even from the north entrance to Florence.
Immersed in the silence of the olive trees and centuries-old oak woods, you can enjoy unforgettable sunsets over the Apuan Alps, go trekking to discover the wonders of this part of Chianti, or join the Dante’s Path (marked by CAI Florence), which from Ravenna, passing right from Ulivelli, arrives in the house of the Poet, in the center of Florence.
We like to think that passing through Ulivelli, Dante was able to exchange glances of love with his beloved Beatrice Portinari, whose family owned the Borgo.

In the vicinity there are excellent typical trattorias where you can taste truly genuine and local cuisine. A few hundred meters away you will find farms with high quality products! The Village of Ulivelli can only be reached by car, as the public bus service goes up to Località Candeli about 550 meters uphill.
